You will need:
· Yarn needle
· Soft toy filling
· Weighted beads – Approx. 25g (optional)
· 3mm crochet hook (This pattern can be made with any size yarn and hook. I recommend using a hook 1 size smaller than suggested on the yarn)
· DK Yarn – Approx. 125m
Stitches and abbreviations used: (US terminology)
· MR - Magic ring
· Ch - Chain
· SC - Single Crochet
· Inc - Increase Stitch (2 single crochets into one stitch)
· Dec - Decrease Stitch (single crochet 2 stitches together)
· Fur stitch/loop stitch - Insert hook into stitch, wrap a loop of yarn around the finger that is holding the working yarn, yo and pull through leaving that loop on your finger. Complete the sc by yarning over and pulling through the 2 loops on the hook as normal.
· BLO – Back Loop Only
· YO – Yarn Over
· ST - Stitch
· SLST - Slip Stitch
· FO - Finish Off
Other things to note....
· Most of this pattern is worked in continuous rounds. It is helpful to use a stitch marker to keep track.
· The number in ( ) at the end of each round indicates the total stitch count for that round.
· * * indicates repeated series of stitches.
· Use invisible decreases for a neater finished product. This is done by using the FLO of the stitches while making the decrease.
· Use invisible decreases for a neater finished product. This is done by using the FLO of Changing colour - complete the stitch before the colour change by working the last yarn over of the stitch with the new colour.
· Stitches in [ ] are worked into one stitch.
· Remember to stuff the product little and often as you work.
Body - Red

Amy, I love this cute Gnome. Thanks for sharing the pattern. I will be making this very soon.
How big is the final product?
Hi Amy, I can't wrap my head around the starting of the feet/legs. Row 2 after3 sc into the last chain.
Hi Dianne
I have done a picture tutorial on this page. http://www.amyscrochetcave.com/p/general-info.html
I hope this helps. It can be confusing working the oval.
Love this pattern..Thank you...I am almost done with mine..He's a Green Bay Packer gnome....looking so cute
hmm
I am confused with how to continue the beard of the Christmas gnome after row 4. Does it continue to increase by two every other row through row 27?
I am also confused with the beard. Do you have a small video tutorial? Or pictures to show ? What do I do after row 4?
Thank you for sharing this cutie! He is my FIRST project! I am pleased how it turned out! Thank you as well for all the tips and tricks you shared across your blog.
Un vĂdeo de la barba?
I would like to purchase the Scandinavian Gnome pattern please
Largely bred for racing, a thoroughbred might turn out to be more horse than most beginners can handle. For the most part, pass on a retired racehorse that is trained to bolt at the crack of a starter pistol. www.horsescout.com
