One piece cat

I love Cats but I can't seem to find a free pattern for a one piece standing cat online, So I have designed my own.

If you have any question or corrections please let me know as I will greatly appreciate any feedback! Also if you do try out this pattern, please post a picture as I will love to see your recreations.

You will need:

  • 3mm crochet hook (Can use 4mm if preferred)
  • Yarn needle
  • Yarn (approx 20g or 60m)
  • Soft toy filling

Stitches and abbreviations used:

(I am from England but use US crochet terms)
  • MC - Magic circle/ring
  • SC - Single crochet
  • Inc - Increase stitch (2 single crochets into one stitch)
  • Dec - Decrease stitch (single crochet 2 stitches together)
  • ST - Stitch
  • SLST - Slip stitch
  • FO - finish off
Other things to note....

  • This is worked in continuous rounds. It is helpful to use a stitch marker to keep track
  • The number in ( ) at the end of each round indicates the total stitch count for that round
  • *  * indicates repeated series of stitches
  • Use invisible decreases for a neater finished product
  • Stitches in [ ]  are worked into one stitch

how can we change the pattern to the black cat?

The black cat is made using the same technique as here it is just done on a bigger scale. The decreases on the body for the bigger patterns are not in exactly the same place as they are for the smaller pattern.
To make a bigger cat you could use thicker yarn or is there a part of that pattern that you prefer?

Am I missing something? Instructions for the head of the cat.

The head is made as part of the body. It is one piece. Approx rounds 15-30 of the body make up the head.

This just says “yarn”. What size yarn? I have a lot of worsted (4) but usually use a 4-5 mm hook which is larger than your pattern suggested. Did you use DK (3) yarn? How big is the finished cat in your yarn? Thinking it might be a nice huggable size in worsted, but would use a good bit more yarn.
