Hanging Tree Angel




 You will need:
·      Yarn needle 
·      Soft toy filling
·      3mm crochet hook (This pattern can be made with any size yarn and hook. I recommend using a hook 1 size smaller than suggested on the yarn)
·      Strand of thin ribbon 
·      DK Yarn – Approx. 12m
o  Cream 
o  White 


Stitches and abbreviations used: (US terminology is used)
·      MR - Magic ring (sc unless otherwise specified)
·      Ch - Chain 
·      SC - Single crochet 
·      Inc - Increase stitch (2 single crochets into one stitch)
·      Dec - Decrease stitch (single crochet 2 stitches together)
·      DC – Double Crochet 
·      TR – Treble Crochet 
·      FLO – Front Loop Only 
·      YO – Yarn Over 
·      ST - Stitch                                                    
·      SLST - Slip stitch 
·      R – Round or Row 
·      FO - Finish Off

Other things to note....
·      Most of this pattern is worked in continuous rounds. It is helpful to use a stitch marker to keep track.
·      The number in ( ) at the end of each round indicates the total stitch count for that round.
·      *  * indicates repeated series of stitches. 
·      Use invisible decreases for a neater finished product. This is done by using the FLO of the stitches while making the decrease. 
·      Changing colour – complete the stitch before the colour change by working the last yarn over of the stitch with the new colour. 
·      Stitches in [ ]  are worked into one stitch.
·      Remember to stuff the product little and often as you work.


Main piece – Cream

*Inc* x6 (12)

Sc (18) – 3 rounds

Sc (6) – stuff the head section
10.
Change to white - *[2dc]* x6 (12)

*2dc, [2dc]* x4 (16)

*3dc, [2dc]* x4 (20)

*4sc, inc* x4 (24) 
14.
*Ch3, skip the next sc, 1sc into the stitch after* continue to end of round.  
15-20.
*ch3, 1sc around the chain of the previous round* continue to end of round. 

FO – Weave in yarn tail.

Sew a piece of ribbon around R13, filling the body section with a small amount of stuffing before tying the ribbon tight 


Wings x2 – White 
1.
6sc into MR (6)- Do not close the ring. 
2.
Ch1, turn, *inc* x6 (12)
3.
Ch1, turn, 12sc (12)
4.
Ch1, working down the edge of the piece, *[1tr, 1sc]* x5. Spread these out evenly along. 

FO – Leaving long yarn tail.  Sew the rounded part to the body leaving approx. 1 stitch between each wing. 


Start of R4. Stitches will be worked down the left side.
