Giraffe Teething Ring Rattle

This pattern is free to view on my blog. A PDF version is available here at a small cost which contains photo instructions of how to attach the head to the ring.

Measurements:
11cm tall from tip of ossicone to bottom of ring.
6cm tall from tip of ossicone to neck.

You will need:
·      Yarn needle
·      Soft toy filling
·      6mm safety eyes
·      3mm crochet hook
·      24mm rattle ball
·      55mm teething ring
·      Black 4ply yarn (for mouth)
·      DK Yarn – Approx. 40m (note that these brands are a thinner DK yarn. 4ply maybe more suitable)
o  Baby Joy DY Choice DK – Sunrise (yellow)
o  Wendy Peter Pan DK – Cream
o  Wendy Peter Pan DK – Brown

Stitches and abbreviations used: (US terminology is used)
·      MR - Magic ring (sc unless otherwise specified)
·      Ch - Chain
·      SC - Single crochet
·      Inc - Increase stitch (2 single crochets into one stitch)
·      Dec - Decrease stitch (single crochet 2 stitches together)
·      FLO – Front Loop Only
·      BLO – Back Loop Only
·      YO – Yarn Over
·      ST - Stitch
·      SLST - Slip stitch
·      R – Round or Row
·      FO - Finish Off

Other things to note....
·      Most of this pattern is worked in continuous rounds. It is helpful to use a stitch marker to keep track.
·      The number in ( ) at the end of each round indicates the total stitch count for that round.
·      *  * indicates repeated series of stitches.
·      Use invisible decreases for a neater finished product. This is done by using the FLO of the stitches while making the decrease.
·      Changing colour – complete the stitch before the colour change by working the last yarn over of the stitch with the new colour.
·      Stitches in [ ]  are worked into one stitch.
·      Remember to stuff the product little and often as you work.

This one is so cute! Is it not completely overwhelming how many toys are available for little babies?! I love handmade toys most of all. They are full of love and are so special! Thank you for this great idea!

Just made this little guy and he is so super cute! Excellent directions. The difficulty is a novice to intermediate. I think I will reduce the size of the head the next time I make it, in my opinion, it is too large for baby aged 6 months to a year to hold up.
